Robert A. Sanders Sr.'s Obituary
Robert "Bob" A. Sanders, Sr., age 93, returned to his heavenly home on March 27, 2021 after a valiant battle with dementia. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Robert Sanders was born to the late Charles and Anna Sanders in Elm Grove, WI on October 8, 1927. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Bob is a United States Navy Veteran. Bob was a graduate of Marquette University and Clemson University with a Civil Engineering Degree. He worked for AT&T until his retirement in 1986.
Bob was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life, Carol, on June 14, 1952. Together they raised 4 children with patience, discipline and humility. Bob’s loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, being outdoors and putzing around the house. Before Carol’s passing in 2014, Bob and Carol enjoyed driving vacations, spending winters in Florida, going to casinos, playing golf and playing a good game of poker.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Carol(Popp), his son, Robert Jr., his daughter-in-law, Linda (Weiler) Sanders, his brother John and his parents. He is survived by his 3 children, Jeffrey, Debra (David) Flessert and Richard Sanders. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine Gresl and Martha Ann Boehme, sister-in-law Mary Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by a very special, very loving and dear friend, Ginny Brockhaus.
There will be a private mass at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI with interment immediately following the mass in May, 2021. The celebration of Bob’s life will be live streamed on YouTube, details to come at a later time.
