Robert Schumann's Obituary
Robert John Schumann, age 79, of Oshkosh passed away at his residence after a short battle with lung cancer surrounded by his family on Sunday morning January 22, 2012. Robert was born on January 9, 1933 in Oshkosh the son of Edward and Marie (Koplitz) Schumann. He married Judy Schraa on June 25, 1960 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oshkosh. He served his Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert was employed for the Winnebago County Highway Dept for over 30 years. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament (St. Peter's Catholic Church) in Oshkosh. Robert loved hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors splitting wood and going to the casino with family members. Robert is survived by his wife: Judy Schumann of Oshkosh, four sons: William (Sheila) Schumann of Berlin, David (Carolyn) Schumann of Winneconne, Richard (Penny) Schumann of Pickett and Robert (Marie) Schumann, Jr. of Oshkosh. Two sisters: Doreen Empereur of Omro and Mary Ellen (Vince) Ulrich of Oshkosh. Six grandchildren, His In-laws: David Schraa of Oshkosh, Richard (Linda) Schraa of Greenville and Mary Jo Jones of Neenah. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy. Memorial services will be held on Thursday January 26, 2012 at 4pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home @ 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Father Doug LeCaptain will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 1pm until the time of service at 4pm. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Robert's name. Robert's family would like to Thank Theda Care Home Hospice especially Mary and Jeanie for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Robert.
