From: Jim Rasmussen: Bob was fun to have around and be around. In the 1990's our sons were in the Boy Scouts. One outing took us on a fishing trip to Canada. Upon returning to the U.S.A, we stopped at a duty free store at the border. Continuing to the border crossing, (me driving) the customs agent inquired if we had any Cuban tobacco products on board. I said: 'no'. From the back of the van came this voice (Bob's), 'yes'.
I cringed, mentally picturing my van being confiscated. Bob passed a 5 pack of cigars forward. The agent examined the package and began chuckling. He pointed to the fine print which said: 'grown from Cuban seed'. The agent waived us through. Bob was being his honest self. We all had a laugh . . later.
