Ronald J. Epprecht's Obituary
Ronald (Ron) John Epprecht, 73, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Ron was born August 31, 1948, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of John and Dorothy (Schmalz) Epprecht. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1967. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He worked as a machinist for Mercury Marine for 40 years. On September 21, 1974, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Bohmann at St. Peters Church in Oshkosh. They lived in Oshkosh where they raised two sons, Ryan and John. Ron enjoyed hunting of all kinds, fishing, sturgeon spearing, woodworking and anything that involved the outdoors and his family. The biggest joy in his life was his grandchildren and being called “bumpa”. Ron was a generous man, he served on the Sturgeon for Tomorrow board, donated hundreds of handmade sturgeon decoys, and was always willing to help out his friends and family. In 2014, he took over as the “Mayor of Fisk”. Whenever you saw Ron, he always had a story or joke to tell that put a smile on your face.
Ron is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Ryan (Jill) and John (Melissa) Epprecht; grandchildren, Aubrey, Graham, Mackenzie and Jordyn; Brother-in-Law, Wayne Ashenberg; Sister-in-Laws, Linda Bohmann and Sally Kiser; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were like family to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Epprecht; In-Laws, Lawrence and Ann Bohmann; Sister-in-Law, Shirley Ashenberg, and Brother-in-Law, Stanley Bohmann.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. on in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. with the Rev. Joshua Jensen officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full military honors will be accorded by the United Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be set up in Ron’s name.
