Ronald Groth's Obituary
Ronald F. Groth, 87 years old, Oshkosh, WI, died peacefully at his home September 17th, 2023.
Born August 15th, 1936 in New London, WI to Martin C. and Lydia A. (Krubsack) Groth
Ron graduated from Shiocton High School, attended University Wisconsin Oshkosh and then was drafted in the Army in 1959, spending just under 2 years in Germany, serving during Belgian Congo crisis and Berlin Blockage crisis.
Ron married the love of his life, Karen R. (Fischer) on November 22, 1962 at St. Patricks in Stephensville, WI , residing the rest of his life in Oshkosh.
He worked over 40 years at Strey Construction as Superintendent.
After retirement he volunteered at Salvatorian Mission for 15 years, was a long time member of St Raphael, served on capital campaign fund, church council, usher, eucharist ministry, lector, and funeral server. Did 2 mission trips in Mexico and Kentucky.
His many interests included spending time at cottage in Door Co, wood working, fishing and spending time with family, and researching family genealogy. Ron also enjoyed wintering and golfing in Gulf Shores, AL. He had a great love for golf and led the Utica Mens Golf League until diagnosed with Parkinson's. he worked as a volunteer worker for 2004 PGA Open and 2007 Senior Open.
He is survived by wife; Karen, four children; Christopher (Tamara), Jonathan (Terri), Eric (Karen), and Elizabeth (David) Horneck, 10 grandchildren; Emily, Maggie (Hunter), Evan (Laura), Tara (Kyle), Jacob, Andrew, William, Sam, Rachel, Kate and 1 great grandchild; August, one sister-in-law; Joan (Leo) Bernardin.
Preceded in death by his parents Martin and Lydia, one brother Gerald, sister-in-law Barbara (Dave) Jochman, brother-in-law Thomas (Bonnie) Fischer.

Funeral services will be held at St. Raphael’s Church (830 S Westhaven Dr, Oshkosh, WI) on Thursday September 21, 2023 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am till 11:00 am, followed by mass in the church at 11:00 am.
