Rose Mary Payne's Obituary
Rose Mary Payne, age 94, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born in Manawa, WI., on September 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Ellen O’Donnell Gorman. Rose Mary married George Payne in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa, on June 10, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2016. Mom grew up on a farm in Manawa in a family of 7 children. She was always a hard worker. We’re happy to say she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of traveling to Ireland, the homeland of her ancestors. Her endearing Irish charm and teasing manner were enjoyed by all, especially her great grandchildren!! She loved Irish music, polka music, dancing, volley ball and whipped cream!!
Rose Mary is survived by her beloved family - two sons; Tom (Karen) Payne, Amherst Junction, George (Quinn) Payne, Oshkosh, Two daughters; Kathleen (Bob) Harris, Oshkosh, Patricia (Jim) Michelson, Oshkosh, grandchildren; Tim, John, Ryan (Britteny), Cassidy, Lisa (Lance), Kristi (Matt), Erik (Rachel), great-grandchildren; Sheamus, Collin, Dillon, Lucy, Charlotte, Ted, Anna, Kate, Caroline, Courtney, Hailey and McKenzie Rose. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Kuhnz, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and her brothers and sisters, and brother and sister-in-laws; Jim and Mary Ann Gorman, Jack Gorman, Patrick and Mary McClone, Eleanor and John O’Keefe, Dave and Eileen Gorman, Ellen Gorman and Garret and Edna Gorman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 14, at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Long officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bethel Home for all the endearing moments Mom experienced with them. We’d like to extend a special thanks to: Quinn, Julie, Deb, Jenni, Odessa, Laura, Anisya, Shyann, Natasha and Rev. David Rumbold.
