Roy Easley's Obituary
Roy David Easley, 77 of Oshkosh passed away at his home on Sept 4, 2014 with his family at his side following a 15 month battle with cancer. He was born June 10, 1937 in Columbia MO the son of Howard P. and Flossie Harrison Easley. On June 26, 1981 he and Linda Horejs Patterson were married in South Park. A Union Carpenter, he loved working and took great pride on projects he worked on especially South Park School, Packer Stadium, Oshkosh Water Treatment Plant and Aurora Oshkosh, including the radiation room where he had treatment. During the 70s and 80s he drove for Schneider Trucking. Most important to him was spending time with family and friends and sharing his skills with them. Planes, golf, hunting and a smooth cut lawn were some of his passions. A member of EAA since 1981, he also had been a member of Winnebago R/C Flyers and a 4H leader for over 10 years teaching rocketry and model plane building and volunteering. He also enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda. His children, Shannon (John) Motter of Hillsboro OR, Jenni Sabiston, Mike Easley of Jacksonville Beach Fla, Josh Patterson and April Patterson of Oshkosh. His grandchildren, Charles James and Daniel Sabiston of Jacksonville Beach. His sisters, Mary Gollaher of St Louis MO, Joan Johnson of Thorsby AL, his brother Howard (Sharon) Easley of Columbia Mo, two special nieces, Kathy Johnson of Thorsby AL and Abigail Czlapinski of Hastings MN. Many nieces, nephews, in laws and a special group of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and spouses, Thelma "Hooks" (Gene) Gibbs, Grace (Murle) Dolens, Ruby (Henry) Carey and special brother in law Joe Gollaher. Family and friends may call at the Poklasny Funeral Home home Wednesday Sept 10, 2014 from 4-7 pm for a time of sharing and support. Private family services will be held a a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. Thank you to all who have been part of our journey the last 15 months.
