RUSSELL RICHARD DEMLER's Obituary
Russell Richard Demler age 77, passed through the heavenly gates in the comfort of his home on November 26th, 2019 with his family at his side.
Russ was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Richard and Helen (Spaulding) Demler. He married Sandra (Sue) Pulver on June 24th, 1961. They were happily married for 58 years. Together, they had three beautiful daughters: Dianna (Mike) Jordan, Corinne Meyer, and Michelle (Randy) Hanford. He will be dearly missed by eight grandchildren: Clint Jordan (special friend Taylor), Richard Jordan, Amanda (Rob) Flegner, Quintin (Sara) Meyer, Scott (Treva) Hanford, Kyle Hanford, Chanelle Hanford (special friend Eros), and Danny (Ashlee) Longsine-Hanford, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as brother-in-law Larry Poeschl and his Aunt Rita Yost.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol (Demler) Poeschl, and Aunt Sr. Margaret Rose Demler.
Russ was a man of many passions, chief among them were his strong Catholic faith in God, his loving wife, and his family. An avid fisherman, gardener, and innovative cook, Russ loved being on water, outdoors, and travelling with friends and family. He was always there to help and take care of others, always putting them first. He taught others to fish, fixed anything that needed fixing, and passed his many skills along to anyone who wanted to learn. Russ worked for the City of Oshkosh for the Street Department for 38 years and informally volunteered his abilities wherever they were needed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 30, at 11:00 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart site) with the Rev William Hower officiating. Entombment will follow in lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
His family wishes to thank St. Paul Hospice, and all of the staff at Mercy Medical Center who’ve cared for Russ along his journey. Special thanks to granddaughters and medical professionals Chanelle Hanford, Amanda Flegner and Treva Hanford for lovingly caring for Russ during his illness
