Russell "Rusty" Doemel Jr's Obituary
Russell “Rusty” Doemel, Jr, age 74, of Oshkosh passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh surrounded by his family. Rusty was born in Oshkosh on May 3, 1948 the son of Russell and Ida (Getchel) Doemel, Sr. After graduating high school Rusty served his Country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Rusty was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, member of the Southside Ice Yacht Club and was employed at Oshkosh Truck for 30 years. On July 12, 2008 Rusty married Catherine Jean O’Brien.
Russ enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors by the campfire with family and friends. He will be remembered for his outspoken nature, contagious laugh, and love of dogs.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Catherine Doemel of Oshkosh. One daughter, Nicole (Jason) Birschbach of Menomonee Falls. Three brothers, Harold Singstock, Jim Doemel and Bill Doemel all of Oshkosh. One sister, Peggy Robbins of Cedarburg. One step daughter, Patty Allen of Oshkosh and one step son, Michael (Diane) Griswold of Oshkosh. Seven grandchildren, Brandon, Abby, Mitchell, Anna, Lauren, Colin and Lucas. Two brothers-in-law, John (Peggy) O’Brien, Jr and Michael (Patty) O’Brien. Cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Bruce Singstock and one sister, Judy Doemel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 5 pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Father Jerry Pastors will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until the time of service.
