Ruth Annette Dewing's Obituary
Ruth A. Dewing, age 97, of Oshkosh, passed away with her family at her side on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Waterford in Oshkosh. She was born on December 7, 1920 in Oshkosh a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Reichard) Poeschl. Ruth married Richard Kelly Dewing on May 6, 1944. Richard preceded her in death in 1989. Ruth and Richard managed the Eagles Club for many years. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. She loved singing in the church choir and also enjoyed bowling, but she will be most remembered for her love of her family. The Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers were the teams she loved cheering for.
She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by two sons, James (Barb) Dewing and Kevin (Micki) Dewing, both of Oshkosh; three daughters, Connie (Lyle) Conrad of Oshkosh, Christine (Randy) Reyman of Colorado an Diane (Richard) Ruck of Ohio. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; sister-in-laws, Nancy and Sally Poeschl; other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Francis, James, Paul and Billy; a grandson, Paul Matthewson; two sister-in-laws, Jean Poeschl and Shirley Hittman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ruth on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Drive with the Rev. Fr. Matthew Rappl as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church only on Saturday from 9 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund will be established. The family wishes to thank both the Waterford staff and Hometown Hospice staff for the outstanding care that was extended to Ruth during this difficult time.
