Ruth Prescott's Obituary
Ruth F. Prescott, 93 of Oshkosh, formerly of Iowa Falls and Atlantic IA, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Evergreen Retirement Center, where she resided for 18 years.
Ruth was born in Winterset, IA on Aug 20, 1922, the daughter of John C & Lauretta Johnson. Ruth married Edward H. Prescott in St Ambrose Cathedral on Thursday, June 10, 1943 in Des Moines IA. Ruth worked in offices in Des Moines, Corpus Christi TX and Oakland CA until Ed returned from service in the Navy on the USS Lexington from 1942 to 1945.
Ruth stayed at home to raise their 4 boys and 4 girls. She also worked in the family grocery business in IA and WI and was active in bridge groups, gardening clubs, Elks Club and the Catholic Church. Ruth & Ed shared many great times with their large families and close friends in IA and WI. Both licensed pilots, they enjoyed flying small planes out of Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh and Iowa Falls Municipal Airport. They were early volunteers of the EAA in Oshkosh.
Ruth’s husband Ed died on March 4, 2003. Ruth is survived by all of her 8 loving children, 19 grandchildren (predeceased by grandson Peter Prescott in 1975) and 28 great grandchildren.
The surviving children include: Patricia (Pat) Locke – Thiensville WI; Fran & Tom King - Scottsdale AZ; George & Judi, West Bend WI; John & Janet, N Ft Myers FL; Kasey & Gary Pendl, Menomonee Falls WI; Ralph & Bernadette, Chilton WI; Theresa & Marc Delphonse, Dunedin FL; and Ed "EJ" & Sue, Colgate WI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1025 W 5th Ave, The Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Private Family Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, at 2747 Knapp St, Oshkosh, near Wittman Field. Family and friends may call at the Church, Friday from 9am until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research OR Evergreen Creekview Staff Christmas Fund.
