Ruth Qualmann's Obituary
Ruth A. Qualmann, age 83, of Oshkosh, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Julius P. and Bertha I. (Schuff) Staerkel. Ruth attended UW-O and reciceved her Bachelor's Degree in Education. Her first teaching position was in Marathon, Wisconsin where she met and married Donald P. Qualmann. She continued teaching in Fort Atkinson and Hortonvile, Wisconsin. She maintained memberships in NEA, WEA, AARP, and her church, Zion Lutheran of Oshkosh. Ruth will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory, her kindness and enduring love will be cherished by her sister, Suzanne Staerkel of Oshkosh, whom she raised as a daughter after the death of their parents; a brother, Vernon (Shirley) Staerkel also of Oshkosh, sister-in-laws, Carmen Staerkel of Houston, Texas and Ann Staerkel of Paxton, Illinois. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends, especially Jeanette Paulick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on January 22, 1986; sisters, Naomi Staerkel and Lillian Hunter; brothers, Julius, Russell and David. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N. Sawyer Street with the Reverend Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Staerkel family at the church on Tuesday morning, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Ruth's family would like to send a special thank you to the following caring friends; Charlene Karleski, Mary Jo Gonzales, Crystal Alderson, Jennifer Boss, Bonnie Graff; nephew, David Hunter and the Affinity Hospice for their loving care and support during this difficult time.
