Ruth C. Walter's Obituary
Ruth C. Walter, age 100, passed away on September 5, 2021 at Ascension Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on July 2, 1921 a daughter of Gottlieb and Elizabeth (Troiber) Schertz. On December 13, 1951 she married Harry Walter. He preceded her in death in 1977. Ruth was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church (St. Jude Parish) in Oshkosh. She had worked at Krambo's Food Store for 14 years, Fredricks Super Market, and Miles Kimball for over 30 years. Although she retired from Miles Kimball in 1987 she continued to work seasonal for many years. At Sacred Heart she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Knights. She enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, scrabble and playing canasta with her friends and also two of her daughters and a granddaughter on Saturday mornings.
She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her children, Carol Kiesow Horejs, Mary (John) Tyler, both of Oshkosh, Beverly (Steve) Schink of Kaukauna, Cathy (Chuck) Hinze of Watertown, Jeff Walter of Oshkosh, Harry Walter of Madison and Gary (Cheryl) Walter of Ankeny, Iowa. She is further survived by a special daughter-in-law, Judy Kiesow, who faithfully watched the Price Is Right with her for many years. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son David Kiesow, son-in-law, David Horejs, a grandson, Todd Schink, her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Schertz, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Harold Krueger and Joyce and James Brickham.
Ruth prayed unceasingly for her family and our country. She watched EWTN, Game Show Network, Price Is Right and the Young and Restless. All of which kept her mentally sharp! She was loved dearly by her family just as she loved all of us. We were blessed and humbled to have been able to celbrate her 100th birthday in July.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ruth on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, corner of 6th and Knapp Streets in Oshkosh. The Rev. Louis Golamari as celebrant. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank Visiting Nurse's, Dr. Edwards and the Mercy Medical Center PCU2 staff for their compassion and kindness while caring for our Mom. They were the best!
