Sally A. Helm's Obituary
Sally Ann Helm passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on June 19, 1934, in Oshkosh to the late Herman and Margaret (Gross) Fritz. She married Martin H. Helm in 1954. Martin preceded her in death in 1965.
A lifelong resident of Oshkosh, Sally worked as a crossing guard on “her” corner, Irving and Jackson, for 38 years. Rarely did she miss a shift in all those years and spoke lovingly of the many children she grew to know. In her free time, Sally spent as much time with her grandchildren as possible. She lovingly adorned them with frequent sleepovers, hours of card games, endless shopping trips, walks to the local Burger King and insisted on escorting them to every local parade. Sally was also an avid embroidery artist, sharing her beautiful creations every Christmas with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed embellishing pillowcases and many a bedroom have benefitted from her endeavors.
Sally leaves behind her children, Robert (JoAnn) Helm and Mary (Duke) Kallas; 6 grandchildren, Tiffany Helm, Ashley (Rick Singh) Helm, Arden (Elizabeth) Helm, Vernon Kallas, Tanya Kallas and Troy Kallas as well as 6 greatgrandchildren. All miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty (Bob) Caras of California, Gilbert (Lucille) Fritz of Arizona, Herman (Bonnie)Fritz of Oshkosh, and Nancy (Jack) Meyer, of Florida.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Aurora Medical Center ICU for their tender care during her passing as well as to Evergreen Manor for lovingly helping her traverse through her last 7 years.
