Sharon (Sheri) Carlson's Obituary
Sharon (Sheri) Carlson passed away peacefully at Aurora Hospital on Sunday, November 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Sheri was born on August 17, 1948 in Oshkosh to Raymond and Marguerite (Johnson) Zelhofer. She was united in marriage to Charles (Chuck) W. Carlson on August 15, 1975. She graduated from Oshkosh West High School and went on to work 35 years for the DOT Driver Licensing and served on several committees.
Sheri loved to fish at Long Lake at Phillips, Wisconsin where she and Chuck rented a lake cabin for 30 years. She was volunteer at Mercy Medical Center. She loved working with her hands and spent much of her time at the Oshkosh Seniors Center working with clay. She was a very talented artist and created many beautiful items in stained glass, paint and clay. She was often caught knitting in her spare time.
Sheri is survived by her loving husband, Charles (Chuck); her mother, Marguerite Zelhofer of Oshkosh; her five sisters - Sue (Glenn) Mentink, Neshkoro; Cathy (Tom) O’Connell; Jane Nygaard; Fran Haese, all of Oshkosh and Louise (Paul) Schoenike, Omro; her step-children, David Carlson, High Bridge; Russell Carlson, Auroraville; Randy (Sheila) Carlson and Kathi (Paul) Miller all of Oshkosh; 11 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephews, 8 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Zelhofer and brother-in-law, Michael Nygaard.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Poklasny Funeral Home located at 870 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902. Rev. Matthew Rappl will be officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the Oshkosh Seniors Center and the Sheldon Nature Center.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center ICU, especially her nurses Jenn and Kara, for their care and compassion.
