Siegfried G. "Sig" Schatz's Obituary
Siegfried G. “Sig” Schatz, age 78 of Omro, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 in the Omro Care Center following a lengthy illness. On June 12, 1930 Sig was born in Oshkosh, the son of George and Betty Schatz. Sig retired from Discher Brothers as a master cabinet maker, Sig enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting and he loved carving and making things for all his grandchildren. He served with the Maritime Service and then in the U.S. Army in Korea. On March 31, 1979 he married Florence Michels in Oshkosh. She survives along with his children: Karen Mosley, Sharon Schatz, Chris (Barb) Schatz and Barbara (Paul) Sarver; his step-children: Dennis (Mary) Michels, Dean Michels, Leanne Kinderman, Lynn (Alan) Kerchisnik, Amy (Rick) Krumenauer, Laurie (Dave) Piper, David Michels and Kay (Dave) Goode; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sig was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Charlotte Voelzke and a grandson: Travis Schatz. The family would like to extend thanks to Dick and Liz Voelzke for their faithful visits and also to all the CNA’s and nurses in Pratt Place at Omro Care for their care and understanding and love for Sig. A private family memorial service will be held. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Sig’s name to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
