Sister Mary Carol Gayle died peacefully at SSM Franciscan Courts. Her best friend, Sister Constance West was with her at her bedside as well as other SSM Sisters. Sister Carol was 76 years old.
She was born to Barlett and Wilma Gayle in Lindsay, OK. on December 25, 1937 and was given the name Carol Sue. She had one older brother, Robert.
Carol Sue entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother on August 25, 1957 in Milwaukee, WI. When she became a novice on August 12, 1958, she was given the name, Mary Innocentia. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1985 and her Golden Jubilee in 2010.
Sister Carol provided service in domestic work at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington, WI; food service and laundry at St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, MN; and in the laundry at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was very diligent in her work and much appreciated by those who worked with her. She brought about a cheerful atmosphere with her gift of humor.
Sister Carol retired and came to Franciscan Courts in Oshkosh, WI on April 29, 2011. There she enjoyed helping wherever she could. Again, she brought her gift of humor to share with sisters and staff. She was greatly appreciated and will be missed by everyone at SSM Franciscan Courts.
