Sister M. Voegerl's Obituary
Sister Mary Maura Voegerl, died peacefully at Franciscan Courts on Thursday afternoon, March 29, 2012 in Oshkosh, WI. She was 93 years old. She was born on October 13, 1918 to parents, Joseph and Maria (Schindbeck) Voegerl in Ittelhofen, Germany. At birth she was given the name Johanna Voegerl. She was one of seven children. She entered the religious community of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother on September 19, 1946 in Abenberg, Germany. On March 19, 1947 she became a candidate. On March 19, 1949 she professed her first vows; professed final vows on August 12, 1954. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee on August 19, 1974; Golden Jubilee on January 1, 1999 and her 60th Jubilee on September 20, 2009. She served in the Dietary Department and also did Seamstress work at the St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She later worked at the Generalate House in Rome, Italy sewing and helping Pilgrim guests. She returned to the US coming to Denville, New Jersey. On July 13, 2003 she retired at Franciscan Courts in Oshkosh. Homecoming for Sr. Mary M. Voegerl will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Franciscan Courts Chapel in Oshkosh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her in the Chapel on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. William Kuhr will celebrate the Mass.
