In Memory of Sister Jean Marie Krueger February 5, 1920 ? April 4, 2012
Sister Jean Marie Krueger died peacefully at Franciscan Courts in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on April 4, 2012. She was 92 years old.
She was born February 5, 1920 to parents Walter and Odelia (McGann) Krueger and given the name Ellenora Eugenia Krueger in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was one of two children, she being the youngest.
She entered the religious community of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother on June 23, 1936. She became a novice on August 12, 1937; professed first vows August 12, 1939 and final vows August 12, 1944. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee January 1, 1964; Golden Jubilee June 24, 1986; and Diamond Jubilee January 1, 1999.
She attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She obtained a Masters in Education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
She served in teaching in Tomahawk, WI; Wabasha, MN; Albuquerque, NM and Villanueva, NM; Sharpsburg, PA; Estherville, IA; St. Joseph?s Children?s Home in Winona, MN. She was Director of Religious Education (DRE) at St. Mary?s School in Denville, NJ; served as DRE at St. Thomas More in Convent Station, NJ. She served as the Assistant Provincial for the Eastern Province of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in Denville, NJ. Later she was the Director of Mission Effectiveness at St. Clare Regional Medical Center in Denville, NJ. She also served at St. Francis Health Resort in Denville, NJ.
Sister Jean Marie retired to Franciscan Courts on October 10, 2003.
Homecoming (Vigil) will be April 9, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Franciscan Courts. The Mass of Resurrection will be April 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. William Kuhr officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
