Sister Ann Marie Seitz, age 96 of Oshkosh, a Sister of the Sorrowful Mother, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2009 in the Franciscan Courts. Sister lived a long and fruitful life in the vineyard of the Lord. On December 12, 1912 she was born in Oberweiling, Germany, the daughter of Anton and Barbara (Achhammer) Seitz. Sister was the oldest of 13 children. She entered the convent on October 15, 1932 in Abenberg, Germany, and was invested on August 12, 1933 in Rome, Italy. When invested, Sister received the name of Mary Friedburga of the Sacred Host, but in 1966 she changed her name to Ann Marie. In 1934 she traveled to the United States with several other Sisters to the Motherhouse in Milwaukee. She took her First Vows on August 12, 1935, Renewal of Vows on August 12, 1938 and her Final Vows in 1940. Sister retired to SSM Franciscan Courts in Oshkosh in October, 1999, where hse enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Sister Ann Marie will be remembered as a caring, gentle and loving person, who had a delightful sense of humor. She suffered much in her last years on this earth, but she always wanted to respond with patience. She was graceful as she accepted every pain which God sent her. Sister was most appreciative for anything a person would do for her, and always thanked them with a word or a smile. Sister passed away quietly and peacefully on Friday, as her fellow Sisters were praying with and for her. Homecoming for Sister Ann Marie will be at 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009 in the Chapel of Franciscan Courts, 865 S.
