Stephen H. Landolt's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Henry Landolt, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, on January 8, 2025 at the age of 85. Born on August 19, 1939, in Duluth, Minnesota, Steve was a man of great intellect, integrity, and entrepreneurial spirit. Steve spent his early years in Duluth until 1948 when his family moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. His first job was as a paper boy. He graduated from Premontre High School in 1957.
At an early age, Steve developed a passion for investing in the stock market. He attended St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. He started his career in Chicago, but eventually settled in Oshkosh with Thomson and McKinnon, earning the trust of his clients with his keen financial insight and unwavering dedication. He later became a partner at Howe Barnes Investments. In the culmination of his professional journey, Steve founded Landolt Securities, his own investment firm, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for providing personalized financial services. He deeply believed that anyone that worked hard, saved, and invested could make a better financial future for themselves and their family.
Beyond his professional achievements, Steve was a man of deep faith, philanthropy, and community involvement. He was known for his energy, jovial personality, and genuine interest in the lives of those around him. He found joy in family gatherings, travel, the Green Bay Packers, outdoor adventures, and mentoring others in their personal and professional pursuits. Steve was active in the Green Meadow School PTA, St. John’s Catholic Church, and a member of the Town of Nekimi volunteer fire department. He was a co-founder of the Oshkosh Youth Soccer League.
Steve is survived by his brother George Landolt, his children Timothy (Cara), Debra Welk (Brian), and Ken (Sara), his grandchildren, Hannah Welk (Pulda), Casey Welk, Truitt, Elias, Calvin and Orry, and one grandchild, Jadon (Pulda). He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Esther (Ley) Landolt, his daughter Mary Beth, his aunt Verena “Auntie” Ley, and his sister Lucille (Breyer).
A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday January 16th at Fiss and Bills Funeral Home in Oshkosh (865 South Westhaven Drive). A funeral mass will be held at 2 PM on Friday January 17th at St. Raphael’s parish in Oshkosh (830 South Westhaven Drive). A visitation will be held at St. Raphael’s in advance of the funeral mass from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Mary Beth Landolt Foundation to be established.
Steve’s memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
