Susanna K. "Grandma Susie" Benz's Obituary
Susanna K. "Grandma Susie" Benz, age 94 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday evening, April 26, 2009 in the Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh, On December 4, 1914, she was born in Oshkosh, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Mauel) Schuchert. Susanna was a member of the St. Jude the Apostle Parish, (St. Vincent site), St. Vincent de Paul Christian Women and the Oshkosh Catholic Women. Her interests included watching MAS*H, and volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Store, Lourdes High School "Spur-of-the-Moment Ladies," Father Carr's Place 2B and the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse. On December 4, 1943 she was married to Frank F. Benz in Oshkosh. He passed away on April 10, 1974.
Survivors include her children: George (Patti) Benz, Paul (Debbie) Benz, Pauline (Jim) Casper and Irene (Richard) Knecht all of Oshkosh, Katherine Curiel in Utah and Louise (Ron) Rossi of Rochester, MN; her grandchildren: Carol (Kevin) Garceau, Sandy (Michael) Strebel, Robert (Alex) Rossi, Richard (Cheryl) Rossi, Renee (special friend: James) Rossi, Katie (Craig) Cheesebro, Christine (Mark) Wetley, Michael (Jenny) Knecht, Sarah (special friend: Brett) Benz, Amy (special friend: Jason) Benz; great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Abby, Tessa, Timmy, Marissa, Kai, Emily, Anna and step-grandchildren: Ryan and Tyler Bolling and Miranda, Brennon and Grace Riddle. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009 in the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, with Rev. Fr, Thomas Reynebeau officiating. Burial will be in RIverside Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
