Tamara "Tammy" Yoblonski's Obituary
Tamara “Tammy” Lu (Schumacher) Yoblonski passed away on July 26, 2024 at the age of 64 after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.
Tammy grew up in Van Dyne, Wisconsin with her parents and three sisters. As a child, Tammy developed a rebellious spirit and a curious mind. She learned early on that her love of people would take her to new and exciting places.
While attending Laconia high school in Rosendale, WI, Tammy was crowned “Peony Queen.” This title was bestowed upon the person in the community who the people voted as most deserving based on the values of kindness, infectious energy, and loving spirit. It was of no surprise to anyone that Tammy won the title.
Tammy had a bad ankle as the result of a run-in with some stairs in her 20s. Because of this, she could semi-accurately predict the weather and sometimes get free perks on vacation. She dealt with that ankle for the rest of her life, but she never let it slow her down.
She met her husband, Rick, while working at Buckstaff in Oshkosh. After a bowling league, a coffee can filled with syrup and five dollars in pennies, and quite a few beers, the two realized they were in love and got married in August of 1983. They had three children just as rebellious and curious as her.
Tammy was a loving wife and a devoted mother who did anything and everything for her children. When her kids were young, Walt Disney World was quickly cemented as “the” vacation destination for the whole family. They went on many family trips there and it soon became a tradition that followed everyone into adulthood with her adult children often taking Tammy on trips with them. Tammy always took the trip, and she loved every second of it. Drinking around the world at EPCOT quickly became a favorite for the whole family. Tammy’s favorite drink at Disney was the Black and Tan (Or, as her family calls it, the “Black and Tam Tam”) from the UK pavilion at EPCOT.
Her family had shish kebabs on Christmas and wigs and wontons on “Nen” Year. They made traditions together that will last for decades. Everyone who met Tammy immediately fell in love with her. She will always be our Peony Queen and she will be deeply missed.
Tammy is survived by her husband Rick and her three children, Andrew (Alex Ives), Megan (Nate Faust), and David, as well as her sisters Cherrie (Gary) Abraham, Trisha (Joe) Birschbach, and Janae (Ray) Simon, and her father, Eugene Schumacher. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Schumacher.
In lieu of a visitation, there will be a celebration of life held at Oshkosh’s Fox River Brewing Company’s Taproom on August 10 from 4:00 - 10:00 p.m. We encourage everyone who knew her to come and share their memories of Tammy.
