Thomas Matczynski's Obituary
Thomas Robert Matczynski, age 61, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 31,2023
following a brief illness.
Tom was born in Manitowoc, WI on March 5, 1962, the son of the late Robert and Phyllis (Rodkiewicz)
Matczynski. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and earned a Masters Degree in Social
Work from UW-Milwaukee.
Tom’s entire career was spent serving youth and their families through various roles at the Winnebago
County Department of Human Services (as a youth worker, therapist and supervisor). He had great
empathy for those in difficult situations and used humor to help others (and himself) cope.
Tom enjoyed his brief retirement, socializing with family and friends, biking, working out at the Y, and
making plans to travel. He enjoyed feeding others, and his family, friends, and co-workers were the
lucky recipients of his wonderful baked goods.
Survivors include his brother Greg (Ellie) Matczynski of Manitowoc, WI; sister Sue Matczynski of Two
Rivers, WI; brother-in-law Fred Voith of Cudahy, WI; and nieces and nephews and their children (who all
loved their Uncle Tom).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Diane Voith and brother-in-law Paul
Vidas.
A Memorial Mass for Tom will be held in St Raphael's Catholic Church (830 S Westhaven Oshkosh) on Thursday November 9, at 11:00 AM with the Rev Quinn Mann officiating. Inurnment will be in Manitowoc. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
