Virginia Anna Zellner's Obituary
Virginia A. "Ginny" Zellner, age 95, passed away on May 2, 2017 at Oakwood Manor in Oshkosh. She was born on May 18, 1921 in the Town of Lima, WI. She was the second daughter of Ida Boland and Joseph Miley. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. On August 27, 1942 Virginia graduated from Mercy School of Nursing. On January 20, 1943 she enlisted in the US Army and was a Lieutenant Army Nurse. She was stationed in March Field, Riverside, California, Fort Sill, Layon, Oklahoma, Phillipines, New Guinea and Australia. She was in the Army for 39 months and was honorably discharged in April of 1946 from Fort Sheridan in Illinois. Virginia was a private duty nurse and worked as a nurse at Mercy Medical Center until her retirement in 1982. On June 15, 1946 she married Raymond Edward Zellner at St. Peter's Catholic Parsonage in Oshkosh. After her retirement Virginia and Ray spent their winters in Haines City, Florida. She greatly enjoyed golfing, knitting, playing cards, the Packers and spending time with her family. She is survived by and her memory will be cherished by four sons and their spouses, Steven (Connie) Zellner, James (Sheree) Zellner, William (Darlene) Zellner and Robert (Jeanne) Zellner She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Pamela Gumz; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren a sister-in-law, Jeanne Zellner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Joseph Miley; her sister, Loella Reed; her husband, Raymond; a son, Thomas R. Zellner and a grandson, Jonathan Zellner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, corner of Monroe and Merritt Streets. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Manor and Heartland Hospice for care extended to Virginia.
