William D. Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
William D. "Bill" Johnson Jr. age 85, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a brief illness, on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on August 2, 1927 in Oshkosh, a son of the late William D. and Alice C. (Brown) Johnson Sr. He proudly served his country in the US Army in the Korean War and married the former Doris Marie Stamborski on August 29, 1953 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2013. Bill was a longtime member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church. He had worked for and retired from the former Corrigated Box/Georgia Pacific. He greatly enjoyed fishing, golfing, casinos, traveling and time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by a son, Jeffry Paul (partner, Patt Seleen) of West St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Johnson of Oshkosh and Patrice Marie (Gary) Schettle of Green Bay; a brother, Richard (Grace) Johnson of Covina, California; a sister, Dorothy Jones, Victorville, California. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and his companion pets, Keera and Mischa. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris; sisters, Leona, Ethel and Margaret; a brother-in-law, Russell Sanders.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bill on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, (St. Josaphat Catholic Church) the corner of Walnut and Congress Avenues in Oshkosh. The Rev. James Jugenheimer will celebrate the Mass. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials in Bill's name may be made to the Fields Of Honor Veteran's Military Museum in Oshkosh.
