William Albert Kienast's Obituary
Bill passed away peacefully at Waterford Assisted Living in Oshkosh on Saturday,February 20, 2021 at the age of 84. Bill was born January 4, 1937 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Dorothy and Delbert Kienast. He worked and lived most of his life in Oshkosh, WI. Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving in Korea. He later worked as a fork lift driver for 43 years at the Leach company.
After retiring from Leach, he worked at St. Vincent de Paul as a truck driver. Bill had a love of cars and Harley motorcycles. He participated in many car shows and won several awards throughout his lifetime. In July of 2013, Bill was inducted into the Walk of Fame at the former Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway. Bill was one of the recipients who was honored for laying the groundwork of racing in Oshkosh and his efforts at Leo's Speedway which closed in the 1970's. Bill also enjoyed socializing with friends at local taverns and always had a good story to tell.
Bill is survived by his long time girlfriend, Laura Tod, brother Robert(Jeanne)Kienast, nieces and nephews, as well as extended family Paul Tod, Pat & Terry Wesner, Sue Spanbauer, Tom & Lonni Spanbauer, Steve (Kay Beulen) Spanbauer, Lisa Spanbauer, two children; Billie Jo and Chris, and other family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Colleen Kope and Beverly Halstead, and one child, Curt.
Bill will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
