ANTHONY VINSON TAYLOR's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Vinson Taylor, of Oshkosh, Wis., died unexpectedly on March 31, 2020. He was 60.
Tony was born on July 22, 1959 in Chicago, Ill., to Abraham and Mary (Malone) Taylor. He graduated from Quigley South High School in 1977 then moved north to Wisconsin to play baseball at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. In 1981, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and communication. He went on to work in a recording studio and ultimately spent nearly three decades as a car salesman with Bergstrom Automotive where his infectious laughter lit up the room. He had many repeat customers who returned time and time again, including to purchase their children’s first cars.
In 1981 he met Jill Bartelt, whom he wed on May 2, 1987 and remained married to for 25 years.
Tony was a self-taught drummer who played with several bands throughout his life and most recently served as the rhythmic backbone of KWT4.
A jokester who always went out of his way to help others, Tony’s witty personality and light-hearted nature left a mark on all who met him. He always had a smile on his face and loved his family and grandchildren immensely, filling his home with their photographs and talking about them often. Tony loved to fish and slipped away to do so every chance he could. He also loved cooking, hunting, jazz music, and, of course, The Bears.
Tony is survived by his parents, Abraham and Mary Taylor, Chicago, Ill.; brother, DeWayne Taylor, Portland, Ore.; sons Brandon De Johnett, Milwaukee, Wis.; Reed (Janel) Taylor, Bennington, Neb.; and Seth Taylor, Bennington, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Leila, Clyde, and Lennox, who will greatly miss their beloved “Papa Pony.”
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Lynn Taylor and brother, Gregory Taylor.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
