Clifford H. Berger's Obituary
Clifford H. Berger, age 85, passed away on April 24, 2010 at the Park View Health Care Center due to complications associated with Alzheimer Disease. He was born in Oshkosh a son of the late Frank and Anna (Poeschl) Berger on October 15, 1924. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and then went to Oshkosh High School and recieved his diploma early allowing him to enlist in the US Navy. On April 12, 1947 he married Bernice Resop also known as Bernie and the couple just recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Cliff was a WW II US Navy Veteran and upon returning from service he worked at Reimer Sausage until he and Bernie purchased the company in 1970, re-naming it Berger Sausage Company. They operated the the business on N. Main Street for 35 years until closing in 2005. Cliff was also an avid vegetable and fruit tree gardener. His memory will be cherished by his wife; three sons, Dennis (Mary) Berger of Wild Rose, Gregory Berger and Gerald (Kristine) Berger, both of Oshkosh; a daughter, Donna (John) Nelson, also of Oshkosh; ten grandchildren, Denny, Robert, Bonnie, Theresa, Michael, Julie, Tommy, Laurie, Dawn, and Johnny. He is further survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Herbert Berger and a sister, Josephine Ilk. Funeral services for Cliff will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh with the Reverend Fr. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow on Friday at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
