Elizabeth "Betty" Grover's Obituary
Elizabeth Helen “Betty” Grover, age 86 of Oshkosh passed away on August 30, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by her family. Betty was born on June 24, 1939 in Cecil, WI to Max and Sophie (Wasielewski) Borowski. Betty graduated from Bonduel High and from Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN. She was employed at Shawano National Bank where she met her future husband, James Grover. On September 8, 1962 they were married. Jim’s profession was with the State Patrol so that caused them to live in several areas before eventually settling in Oshkosh.
Betty is survived by her husband Jim Grover; her son, David Grover; and her daughter, Anne (Greg) Francis. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Matt, Holly (Chris) Barnett, Kelly, Mike, and Jacob, as well as nine great-grandchildren and her brother, Clem. Betty was very active in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s lives. Betty was an active member at their Parish Church; the Oshkosh Franciscans Seculars, Prayer Shawl services & volunteering her time at St. Raphael’s. She loved spending time at their cottage in Cecil, WI and loved snowmobiling. Retirement brought Jim and Betty to the warm climate in the south, mostly in Arkansas for over 10 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11 am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. Father Thomas Long will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Committal services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to be made for Mass intentions at St. Raphael Catholic Church. 830 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54904.
