I first met Jim when he wondered into my step aerobics class about 20 years ago. We talked him into staying for the class, and none of us regretted out decision. While it took him a little bit of time to get the "steps" right, within a short time, he was stepping out with the best of us!
He saw himself one time in the mirrors when we moved class to a studio, and laughed at how "graceful" (not) he was! But he kept it up because it was a good workout, and nothing would stop Jim.
Later he followed me to my muscle conditioning class where he became a sort of ambassador, welcoming new people and kidding the rest of the class. For us, we shared a number of beliefs and principles. We talked politics, religion, health, family, their trips, books, music (he liked Dave Matthews), and his and Gail's military service.
His love for his wife and family, his love of God, his love of community, his country, and his friends was immeasurable. God speed, Jim.
My dad loved "bumming" with his grandkids. That could mean exploring a nearby field, hiking around a lake at Hartman Creek State Park or wandering around Menards or Fleet Farm. Just having them by his side and sharing life was enough.
