John Patrick Goheen's Obituary
John Patrick Goheen, 88, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family and faithful dog Ives, in the early morning hours of Monday, August 19, 2024.
Born July 15, 1936 to John "Pat" Patrick and Leona (Coron) Goheen. He married the "prettiest girl he ever saw," Beverly (Scherer) on June 28th, 1958 (58 years). John will be remembered as a faith filled man of God, who loved to do many things. In 1955, he graduated from Oshkosh High School and went on to Chicago Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Architectural Drafting and Design. He worked as a draftsman for Sterling Custom Homes, was a product engineer for Morgan Corporation, and eventually was a self-employed master carpenter building and remodeling homes. He cherished the friendships he made with those who's homes he worked on countless times. His craftsmanship didn't end there. He was a master wood carver and member of Mid-Wisconsin Chippers. There were many fun filled times and memories made in his 29 years of singing Bass in the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus. His love lives on in all of the lives he touched and mentored throughout his 88 years of life. A truly wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend and Mentor.
He is survived by his four children, Kathryn (Wayne) Madonia, Michael (Beth Gearhart) Goheen, Kevin (Laurie) Goheen, and Patricia (Robert) Pascal. Nine Grandchildren, Aaron Russel, Josh Russell, Taylor Russell, Sawyer Russell, Lyndsay Formiller, Ashley (Elijah) Haase, John E. Goheen, Dylan Madonia, and Abby Madonia, and his 5 Great Grandchildren Aubree and Paityn Wroblewski and Ella, Elijah, and Jackson Russell.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly, brother James Goheen, Aunt Alyce Dietzmann, Denise (Horejs) Fillmore, and Thomas Horejs.
A Memorial Mass For John will be held on Friday August 23, at 9:00 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic (Sacred Heart site) with the Rev Louis Goamari officiating.
Our family is grateful for the outpouring love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
We would like to give a special thanks to Compassus Hospice Care Angel nurses, Nicole, Stacy, Stephanie, and Chris for their exceptional care, to his 4 children and Niece Linda-Lou Easley for their 24/7 care whether from near or afar, to his wonderful neighbors for all their help the last few months, to all the family and friends that visited/called/or texted, and lastly, to his little Angel puppy Ives who remained at his side until the end and showed nothing but love, comfort, and comic relief to John and all of those around him
