Sally J. Cuttill's Obituary
Sally J. Cuttill, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, surrounded by family at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born in Oshkosh on June 21, 1944, to Marvin Gauger and Ila Mae “Ollie” Gauger (Cappert). She married William “Bill” Cuttill in 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Oshkosh, and they shared 62 happy years of marriage together. Together, they had four children.
Sally was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh. She found joy in every aspect of life and was known for her caring and nurturing personality, always putting her family first. Sally was famous for her delicious meals sprinkled with extra butter, salt, and love. She loved traveling, especially wintering in the Florida Keys and visiting the family cabin. Sally also loved finding a casino wherever she went, and if you asked, she was always a winner. Her sarcastic sense of humor kept everyone laughing, most often at Bill’s expense. She cherished time spent babysitting her grandchildren, both human and furry, and never passed up an opportunity for shopping, particularly if it involved something sparkly. She loved cheering on sports teams of all kinds, especially the Herd, the Badgers, and the Packers. Sally also enjoyed her weekly golf outings followed by breakfast with the girls (Judy, Mary Lou and Cheryl) and giving back to her community through volunteering with the Elks Ladies and United Way.
Sally is survived by her husband, Bill Cuttill; her three children, Mike (Deanna) Cuttill, Chris (Tracy LaMore) Cuttill, and Kim (Dan) McGuire; her grandchildren, Meagan Potratz, Taylor (Tessa) Potratz, Kate (Michael) Wagner, William Cuttill, Maren McGuire, Noah Cuttill, Ava McGuire, Sophia Cuttill, Elijah Cuttill, Isabella Cuttill, Michael LaMore, and Garrett LaMore; and 10 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She is further survived by her sister, Sue Schedel; life-long friend, Carole Schultz, along with many other cherished friends and extended family members.
Sally was preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Cuttill; her parents, Marvin and Ila Mae Gauger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Barton and Mildred Cuttill; her brother, Thomas Gauger; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Cuttill.
A celebration of Sally’s life will be held on Monday, June 1, at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54904). Visitation will take place from 9:00–11:00 a.m., with a short service to follow. A private burial service at Sacred Heart Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation fund will be established to honor the Oshkosh Area United Way.
